You will spend a ton of money just to get in and then all your savings, once on the inside. Is it fun? YES! Is it a once in a lifetime experience? YES! Will it make you wince once you see how much it cost you? YES! I'm not saying don't take your family to Disney Land. I love Disney Land and Disney World too! I'm just saying there are thousands of other places to take the family that won't put you in debt.

Go to national and state parks! You will pay to get in and for food, but your wallet will stay in your pocket most the time. Your kids will run around free having fun and they will also learn something.

Of course, there are the breathtakingly amazing well-known parks like California's Redwood State Park and Yosemite, but there are plenty of other state parks all over the place too.

Other cheap vacation ideas to look out for are cheap cruises. You can get cheap cruises (last minute) at huge discounts for your whole family. Taking a cruise for your family vacation sounds pretty darn relaxing.

I have been through Utah a few times, but this last time changed my mind entirely. My husband and I decided to pull off on all the viewing spots along the interstate.
